R.I.P. Steve McNair
NASHVILLE: Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, who led his team to the 2000 Super Bowl, has been found dead with gunshot wounds to the head.
A woman, Sahel Kazemi, 20, who was described as a "friend" of McNair's, was also dead, police said yesterday. She had a gunshot to the head and a gun was found near her body in the downtown apartment.
McNair, 36, was found on the sofa in the living room, and Kazemi was near him on the floor.
Police spokesman Don Aaron said McNair's wife, Mechelle, was "very distraught".
"We do not believe she is involved," he said. "Nothing has been ruled out, but as far as actively looking for a suspect ... the answer would be no."
McNair played 13 seasons and was best known for his stint with the Tennessee Titans before retiring last year.
The bodies were discovered by McNair's friend Wayne Neeley, who said he rented the apartment, in the expensive Rutlege Hill neighbourhood, with McNair.
Police said a witness saw McNair arrive there between 1.30am and 2am on Saturday, local time, and that Kazemi's vehicle was there.
Nashville police had arrested her two days earlier on a drink-driving charge.

They say "friend" to keep it politically correct, but we already know whassup. Regardless, no one deserves to have their life stolen. When will the senselessness end? Rest in peace man.
