Trailer: Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

This latest installment of AVP looks to be a big difference from 2004's AVP.

If you are not into horror, I suggest you go to the next post, it is insanely violent.

It's directed by Greg and Colin Strause, the guys behind the visual effects of blockbusters like Rise of the Silver Surfer, 300 and Mission: Impossible III.

John Legend Performing at the Kings/Queens Bash

I am a huge fan of John and hate that I missed this opportunity to see him perform.

This brief synposis was taken from a bulletin posted on Myspace:

The Kings in Queens Bash on July 26, 2007 in Philadelphia, PA was an
overwhelming success. The Kimmel Center provided the perfect scenery for
the first official John Legend Network event with grandeur. John Legend
and The John Legend Network hosted an intimate and spectacular party/concert to
celebrate the Legend Network members from all around the country.

The set list consisted of the following: Prelude/Let’s Get Lifted; Freak Out; She Don’t Have to Know; Save Room; Wake Up (Vaughn Anthony); Love Hustle (Vaughn Anthony); Another Again; Again; Must Be The Way; So Much To Say (Estelle); More Than Friends (Estelle); Just In Time; King & Queen (with contest winner, Dorothy Saintus); Stay With You; Ordinary People (with special guest Fred Yonnet on harmonica); Sun Comes Up/Walk Off; Encore:I Won’t Complain; So High.

Performance footage of him singing "Let's.." and "Freak Out" have been included (WARNING: the vid is not of the best quality-but who cares, this is John Legend!!)

Movie Review: Talk to Me

"I’ll tell it to the hot, I’ll tell it to the cold, I’ll tell it to the young, I’ll tell it to the old, I don’t want no laughin’, I don’t want no cryin’, and most of all, no signifyin’." -Petey Greene ( January 23, 1928 – January 10, 1984 )

Tonight I went to a sneak preview of Talk to Me. The film stars Don Cheadle, Chiwetel Eljoifor, Taraji Henson, Cedric the Entertainer and directed by Kasi Lemmons (Eve's Bayou). The movie is rated R for strong language and some nudity.

Now, before I go any further, I would like to say that if you have an extra $9.00 this weekend, take that $9.00 and go see this film (unless you need it for your tank).

Cheadle portrays 70's radio icon Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene and Eljoifor is Dewey Hughes. Both of these men were pioneers. Without these two, there would be no Doug Banks, Tom Joynor, or Steve Harvey.

Greene was incarcerated when he started making announcements over the PA system. He was never ashamed of his prison time. He would regular say "I am nothing but a con and a thief."

Petey didnt hold no bars when it came to the truth. As he would say, "I am the People." He was not afraid to use vulgar or sensitive language to get a point across; didnt care if his message offended. He just called things the way he saw them.

Dewey Hughes notice the effect that Greene had on people and offered him a job as a radio dj. Hughes moved Greene from radio to stand up to eventually to television. After Greene and Hughes split, Hughes would later form the media conglomerate, Radio One.

Petey Greene was more than a movement, he was a force of nature.

Greene passed away in 1984 from cancer. Even though he was not a public official, more than 10,000 people attended his funeral.

I have posted some of his broadcasts for your viewing pleasure.

Whoopi Joins ABC's 'The View'

It has been confirmed that Whoopi Goldberg will be officially joining Barbara Walters and the other talkative ladies on 'The View.'

She was announced the new moderator for the show this morning.

Goldberg jogged down the aisle of the New York studio, slapping hands with the audience, when the announcement was made live on the air by Walters.

"I love this show," said Goldberg, one of a select few performers to win an
Oscar, Emmy, Tony and Grammy award. "I love coming on it. I love hanging out
with you guys."

We know Whoopi will give the show a new breath of fresh air.
