Timbaland calls Dr. Dre His "Daddy"; Talks Jay-Z, Missy Elliot

In an recent interview with MTV News, Timbaland talks about Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, and Missy Elliot.

On Dr. Dre:
I gotta go against my daddy," he said Friday from the ABC studios in New York, where the super-producer is filming a guest spot for the soap opera "One Life to Live." "I call [Dr.] Dre my daddy. To make it be some talk, I gotta go against my big brother. He's my big brother. [Who are] the two quarterbacks? Peyton Manning and Eli? When they have to go against each other, it's like, 'Do I really wanna go against my big brother?' Dre is my mentor. That would drive people to the stores. Like, 'Oh snap, Tim and Dre!' That would be big. I asked Jay-Z who he would go against. He said, 'The only person I would go against is my other homeboy: my friend Eminem."

On Jay-Z:

"He wants me to do the next single," Tim said. "He just does it for fun. We talked about [his next album]. He says it's just a hobby, ain't nothing else to do. When a person tells you that, what you supposed to say? 'You crazy'? He said, 'I don't wait for nothing. I'm there. I'm doing it for the love of music.' What am I supposed to say? 'You wack for doing it'? ... Some people think Jay fell off. Or he's just over people's head. I think that's what it is. That's another thing: It could hurt him or it could make him be not the legend he is. That's the only thing I'm scared of for my friend."

On Missy:

"I probably won't do the whole thing 'cause I gotta get my own thing up and poppin'," he said, referring to his Mosley Music Group label. "I can't make [Missy's recording home] Atlantic [Records] money. Nothing personal. We had a time and a crazy run, but I gotta get my own indie label poppin'."

Mariah Carey is related to Footballer Ashley Cole

Mariah Carey has just discovered that she is related to Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole. Mimi has been tracing her family tree across America and as a result of the search, has found out she is related to Cole.

Apparently Mimi's grandparents are from the same area as Cole's family.

“It’s fascinating. My grandmother was a Cole before she married and it
turns out she comes from the same area of Alabama as his [Ashley’s] ancestors. We are still looking into it to see if we’re also related to Nat King Cole. I’m such a huge fan of his. That would be wonderful and would explain so much.”

A friend of Ashley said that “Ashley is chuffed to bits to hear that they’re related. He’s always been a big fan of Mariah and grew up listening to jazz legends like Nat King Cole.”

Music: Tynisha Keli

As I was combing the internet (preferably, imeem.com), I ran across this artist: Tynisha Keli. This is my first time hearing anything about her. At first glance, she is just Christina Aguilera look-a-like, but this is where the comparison stops. She has a great voice, not commanding like Xtina, but still good. 'Wonder Why' is really growing on me.

BeBe Winans, Chaka Khan to appear in 'Color Purple'

Get ready for some cast changes — all Broadway debuts — in the New York company of "The Color Purple."

Grammy winners Chaka Khan and BeBe Winans will join the hit musical on Jan. 9 at the Broadway Theater, producer Scott Sanders announced Tuesday. The twosome will portray the battling lovebirds, Sofia and Harpo, in the show, which is based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.

Meanwhile, "American Idol" finalist LaKisha Jones will come aboard Dec. 19 to play the Church Soloist, a woman who opens the musical with a rousing gospel number. Jones will play the role at all performances through Jan. 6. Starting Jan. 9, she will play the Church Soloist at evening performances and Sofia at matinees.

"The Color Purple" stars Fantasia as Celie, a a determined woman who, in Walker's heartfelt tale of abuse and perseverance, triumphs over adversity.

Video: Alicia Keys - No One

Here's Alicia Keys video for her new song "No One." Ok, I know this may be out of line but I don't care--this is my new song for my baby daddy (you know who you are). Everytime I hear this song, I think of you.

As always, Ms. Keys is not half stepping!! She is very beautiful in this video and the passion of the lyrics is heart-felt.

Video: Irv Gotti's Reality TV Show

In an earlier post, I let you all know that VH1 decided to let Irv Gotti have his own show. In this video, we get a tiny glimpse into Gotti's life as he tries a comeback. I am not sure he wants to bet "the ranch" on Ja Rule, but hey, you never know.

I think I will be tuning in just to see Vanessa Carlton, who I think is very talented.

Keke Wyatt blasts Essence.com!

In an Eurweb.com podcast, Keke Wyatt blasts Essence.com regarding an Q&A with the mag last month. Ms. Wyatt claims that she was "badly misquoted" when the discussion turned toward her ethnic background.

Here is the actual quote from Essence.com:

I hate how everyone thinks that Black people are beneath them, even Asians, Whites and ... Mexicans. No, I'm not all Black, but I definitely stand up for the Black people. They've had it rough, they can't help the fact that they're skin is dark, or that their nose is a lil' wider or that the curls in their hair might be tighter. I don't think that it's fair for people who look like me-the light skin, pointy nose and pretty hair-to think that dark-complected people are any less than them. Who am I? I'm not better than you. I breathe the same air and I bleed the same blood. Nobody is better than anybody else. We are all in this struggle called life. I think brown skin is beautiful because people like me have to lay out in the sun to try and look like you. My best friends are Black-I mean, Black-Black-and I think that's so beautiful. I think that's why I decided to make my children Black...I could have married a White dude and my kids probably would have looked completely White. That's not what I wanted. Now, they can go outside and get a for-real tan (laughs). I think Black is beautiful. I stand for the African-American people until the day I die."

Video of the Day: Vietnam Intersection

This video was shot during a tourist's visit to Vietnam.

I am amazed and a bit confused on how the drivers manage not colliding into each other. Not sure if it was choreographed or what. Make sure you look closely at the pedestrian (lower right corner) crossing the street.

After watching this video, I will never complain about traffic again.

Thanks Sam for the link!!

The wait is almost over - Halo 3 out tonight

Tonight is the night when millions will find out what happens to mankind's silent hero: Master Chief.

If you didn't plan ahead, there are a couple of good places to try and secure a copy of the game - as long as you don't have an aversion to lines. Surprisingly enough, even 7-Eleven is one such outlet. A number of stores are going to join the GameStops, Wal-Marts, and Best Buys of the world by holding a midnight launch. Before heading out, call first!!

Chris Crocker to get his own show

As I was combing the internet, an article on Chris Crocker caught my eye.

The now-famous video blogger has inked a deal to have his own tv show. After much media attention for his 'Leave Britney Alone' video, Crocker signed a deal with Blue 44. The plan for the show is for it to be a docusoap built around Crocker.

"Chris first got on our radar a year ago," said 44 Blue president/co-founder Rasha Drachkovitch, who said he wants to develop a show that plays to Crocker's strengths.

"It's going to pretty much be the 'Chris Crocker experience,'" he said. "We consider him a rebel character that people will find interesting. He's going to be a TV star."

Have you had your daily dose of OJ???

This is not looking good at all for O.J. Simpson. Since they couldn't make a murder rap stick, the law just couldnt wait for O.J. to mess up. Earlier today, he was charged with committing 10 felonies, including kidnapping, in the armed robbery of sports memorabilia collectors.

Simpson, 60, was booked on five felony counts, including suspicion of
assault and robbery with a deadly weapon. District Attorney David Roger filed
those charges and added five other felonies, including kidnapping and conspiracy
to commit kidnapping, according to court documents.

The judge may set the bail at a hearing Wednesday in excess of $1
million because of the kidnapping charges, a local expert told NBC News.

Simpson, accused along with three other men, faces the possibility of
life in prison if convicted in the robbery at the Palace Station casino. He was
being held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. (SOURCE)

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx was immortalized on Hollywood's "Walk of Fame" on Friday, becoming the 2,347th celebrity to have a star bearing his name laid on the sidewalk.

Foxx, winner of the best actor Academy Award in 2005 for his portrayal of soul singer Ray Charles in "Ray," paid tribute to his grandmother during a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.

"My grandmother's gotta be spreading her wings and flying around in heaven, just so happy," the 39-year-old entertainer quipped to reporters.

Foxx, who also starred in hit musical "Dreamgirls," is to appear in action-thriller "The Kingdom" later this month.

Meanwhile Foxx had words of support for troubled singer Britney Spears, whose comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend has been savaged by critics this week.

O.J. Arrested Again...Held with No Bail!!

If you have just landed from Mars, then you may not know that O.J. Simpson was arrested (again!!) in Vegas on numerous felony charges in an alleged robbery of collectors.

Prosecutors were planning to charge Simpson with two counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and coercion, said Clark County District Attorney David Roger.
A conviction on the most serious charge, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, could bring a sentence of three to 35 years for each count, he said. A judge ordered Simpson held without bail, police said.

O.J. is about to catch hell now. Since they couldn't catch him the first time, they got him now. He says he was only retrieving items that were stolen from him and that there was no aggression or violence involved.

Keyshia Cole Covers Essence Magazine

Keyshia Cole is currently on the cover of Essence Magazine. As the main feature, she speaks on life, love, and being compared to Mary J. Blige. In the latter, this is what she had to say:

ESSENCE: How do you feel about constantly being compared
to Mary J. Blige?

COLE: I feel like we are very similar based on everything we’ve been through in our personal lives. It’s helped make us sing the way we sing. Because she didn’t have a vocal coach, and neither did I. And when I met her I told her, “You winning all those Grammy’s—congratulations—it gives me inspiration to this day that maybe I can do the same thing.” You know, it’s just a real big life circle. I think there are a lot of things that she could tell me that’d help me. I’m not trying to take nobody’s place or nothing like that. But I’m just saying, as a woman—as a young Black woman—if she knows some of the answers, Give ’em to me!”(Laughing.) But she said that I could call her anytime. I just haven’t done it yet.

I like how she answered that one. Still, the comparisons will continue. Mary and Keyshia both sing from the heart.

Impressions from Fashion Week

(CBS/The Early Show)

Every morning as I am getting dressed for work, I watch The Early Show. Well, this morning Hannah Storm spoke with InStyle Magazine's Katrina Szich about her impressions from Fashion Week. Here are some of her takes from Fashion Week.

"Designers had been sporty last spring, a little bit pretty." "This season, they've gone back to femininity, to sophistication, to elegance. So everyone's going to have to get ready to dress up again."

Gone are shapeless shifts and babydoll dresses. What made headlines at the Spring 2008 shows were the ethereal gowns, belted trousers, and sheer fabrics. Dressing up with a practical-but-perfect ladylike bag is also back.

Click "+/-" to read more.

+/-

TRENDS:

The Belted/Cinched Waist

A backlash to the shapeless trapeze dress seems to have materialized in the form of a whittled waistline. Everything is belted, thin, wide and otherwise! This includes suits, jackets, sweaters, high-waisted trousers, and evening gowns. The clear message here: femininity is back ... show off those curves!

Tribal Prints

Designers had exotic destinations on the brain and it showed up in graphic, tribal patterns on dresses, skirts and tops. Summer 2007 was about preppy
stripes, but Summer 2008 is headed in a much wilder direction.

White and Bold Colors

Many designers focused on spring cleaning: WHITE -- even head-to-toe -- was rampant on the runways. But designers also went crazy for crayon colors in large doses -- lots of red , turquoise, purple, pink, yellow, orange not just as accents, but as the focal point.

Asymmetrical Necklines

One of the sexiest, most fun trends seen this week has been asymmetrical necklines. Seventies (Michael Kors) and 80's-inspired (LAMB) asymmetrical necklines showed up on tops, day dresses and eveningwear. This trend seems to have no limit on age or attitude. Designers from Gwen Stefani to Oscar de la Renta re-interpreted this fresh, new neckline.

Long, Flowing Floral Dresses

Designers were still inspired by dresses, but gone were the babydoll and trapeze dresses we've been wearing for the past couple seasons. In their place were floor-grazing, flowing floral dresses, for both day and night.

ACCESSORIES: THE "IT" ITEMS

The must-have bag for Spring '08 is practical, it's no longer about a precious piece. But, that doesn't mean it's not luxurious. Oscar de la Renta made his practical bag feminine with ruffle details that give it that elusive it-bag quality. Conversely, shoes are all about the "Wow" factor. Whether architecturally sculpted (Marc Jacobs), Birkenstocks with surprising flair (Phillip Lim), an exotic-skin slingback, or a delicate flat, strappy sandal in metallic gold, a double-take shoe is an essential.

sidenote: As soon as I find pics, I will post them. I am still trying to figure out how to pull off the belt, cuz I dont have a small waist...

Heidi Klum: New face of Accessorize

Heidi Klum is a busy girl.

In between presenting Project Runway and Germany's Next Top Model, the supermodel's found time to be the face of Accessorize's fall/winter collection.

She even created the Heidi bag, a gotta have structured clutch bag, exclusively for Accessorize.

Bynum's husband has financial troubles

What is done in the dark, shall come to light...

When Bishop Thomas Weeks allegedly beat his estranged wife, Juanita Bynum, he had other issues on his mind. It is reported that Weeks were having financial troubles as well.

The station [Fox 5 Atlanta] reports that there is more than $100,000 in judgments against Weeks. He reportedly owes the Xerox Corporation $63,000; Tiffany and Company jewelry store says he hasn't paid the $22,000 he owes; a credit card company says Weeks is in arrears for $13,000; and Ford Motor Credit has a $6,000 judgment against him. Three of the creditors, according to The Associated Press, say they still haven't received a dime from Weeks.

The Global Destiny Ministries pastor is close to losing the church he and Bynum built, and he was evicted from his Duluth, Ga., home in late June, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. (SOURCE)

Bynum says Weeks choked her, pushed her down, and stomped her in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel. A hotel bellhop intervened and stopped Weeks from attacking Bynum.

So what was the motive behind the attack???

Bynum was questioning Weeks about being gay. According to TransWorldNews she was uncomfortable and upset with his close relationships he had with some men in the church.

In other JB news, she has filed for divorce from Weeks.

She says she will still loves Weeks.

“I’m not crying just because I was kicked or I was choked. There’s more to it than that for me. I know that scars heal, but I lost somebody that I loved very much. I know people go through this saying I loved him. No, I love him,” Bynum said.

“My love for Bishop Weeks I don’t think will ever die. I said this to someone yesterday, my love for him, separating what I experienced in that parking lot, I have enough love. It’s so much until I think I can marry him twice, but this one is over,” she added.

Kanye in the Lead

Early projections from Billboard has placed Kanye West in the lead over 50.

Sales data is finalized Sunday at midnight when the Nielsen SoundScan week officially ends, but early indications are that West will be the victor, at least in the first week.

According to executives with three of the major labels, whose job duties include projecting first week scans based on early store sales reports, "Graduation" could come in at the 575,000-700,000 range, while "Curtis" is being projected in the 500,000-600,000 range.

A check with one Northeast urban-oriented store selling both the 50 Cent and West albums found the former outselling the latter seven copies to three copies today. (SOURCE)

Come Monday we will know if 50 is officially retired.
