May 21ST Doomsday

Thanks to 89-year-old leader of Family Radio Worldwide, a Christian based radio ministry, Harold Camping, many believe so. New Yorker Robert Fitzpatrick was so convinced he spent his entire $140,000 life savings in preparation.
Camping sites his study of the Bible as the foundation upon which he has predicted Doomsday to be May 21st. (Interestingly, he previously declared that September, 1994, would be the end times. )
Looking to the Bible for answers about the Rapture may actually be the source of the confusion.
The Book of Matthew offers what appears to be contradictory information. Matthew 24:36 says that “Of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only,” in reference to the Rapture. This passage indicates that the day the Rapture will occur is beyond human understanding; only God will know.
A passage earlier in Matthew, verse 16:28, seems to suggest that Jesus would return during our lifetime: “There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
