Accused statutory rapist and child pornographer R. Kelly has gained a victory in his court battle. The singer appeared Monday before a judge who ruled that a child therapist can’t testify at his trial. Kelly’s accused of videotaping himself in sex acts with an under-age girl who’s now 20 and says she’s not the girl in the video. Dr. Sharon Cooper planned to testify that such denial from past victims of child sexual abuse is common, but Judge Vincent Gaughan sided with defense lawyers. They argued that no precedent has been set letting a witness cast doubt on another witness in that way. Kelly’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 12, followed by a May 9 trial, which has been delayed for five years.
