Troi "Star" Torain back on the airwaves

Damn, just when I thought it was safe to listen to the radio again. Troi "Star" Torain and his bunch of hooligans are going back on air starting January 15.

The Star and Buc Wild Show was picked up by Mega Media Group as part of a format change to Pulse 87 (87.7 FM).

I remember when Star made the now infamous on-air comments about DJ Envy's 4 year old daughter. I remember getting to work and asking my coworkers did they hear what he had said. I was elated when his show was canceled. He was worst than Howard Stern in his shock value. To read more about Star go here and here.

Weight Loss Diary: Damn, Damn, Damn

I know it has been many, many moons since I last wrote about my diet. Well, as you probably can guess, I ditched it real fast. Well now I have to start back again. You see my older sister is getting married June '08 and I refuse to be referred as "Oh, that Cassandra, the fat baby sister." Hell to the monkey doodle naw!!*

So my faithful readers, I am asking that you help me stay encouraged, please post words of encourage, maybe even ideas on how you or someone you know lost the weight.

Rodney King Shot in Face, Arm

TMZ.com is reporting that Rodney "Can't we all just get along" King was shot today.

King called Rialto police just before midnight to report the shooting. According to Sgt. Don Lewis, King was struck in the face and arm -- with what appeared to be pellets or birdshot. When police arrived at King's home, they reported that King and others inside appeared drunk. The man got shot in the face -- he deserves a drink!

King was taken to a local hospital, and his wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.

Britney Spears Stealing from A Sex Shop?!?!

I have tried to avoid posting or comenting on Britney Spears, but this is helluva ridiculous. The Britster has now been accused of stealing a wig from a Sex shop. The incident happened in the wee hours of November 18.

Sources told US Weekly that Brit Brit became annoyed when staff told her she could not try on lingerie for hygenic reasons (EWWWWW!!). Clearly frazzled, she then take off her pants in front of shocked shoppers.

"Staff employees told her they don't allow people to try on underwear.

"She looked out of it. There was nothing going on behind her eyes.

"She threw a fit and took off her underwear and tried on a pair of boy
shorts with 'Barely Legal' stitched across the rear end in the middle of the
store while 15 other customers looked on.

"The employees kept saying, 'Don't change out here!' She's just like, 'Well, I couldn't take them in the fitting room!'

"It was like dealing with a child."

Brit paid for the lingerie and stormed out, allegedly swiping the wig off a mannequin on her way.

During an BBC interview Monday, Jermaine Jackson said he and his brothers, including Michael, are planning to tour sometime next year and concert dates have been discussed.

Oprah lending hand to Obama's campaign

Political observers say Oprah Winfrey's decision to campaign with Sen. Barack Obama could help him made inroads into what many consider Sen. Hillary Clinton's natural constituency: women.


Oprah Winfrey appears with Sen. Barack and Michelle Obama during a fundraiser in September in Los Angeles.

In a move that may lead voters, particularly women, to take a second look at Obama, the talk show host will join the Democratic presidential candidate on the campaign trail December 8 and 9, Obama's campaign announced.

Winfrey will join Obama during campaign stops in the early-voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, the campaign said.

The appearances come just weeks before the crucial Iowa caucus on January 3.

"Oprah takes the idea of a celebrity endorsement to a whole new level. She's not just a superstar. She's a nova," Democratic strategist Jenny Backus told CNN.

"She's not just a Hollywood celebrity. In fact, she's really not Hollywood. She's like the voice of America. I mean, she is someone that more American women and men tune into every day." (Read More...)

Alicia Lands Fourth Consecutive #1 Album

The results are in...Alicia Keys "As I Am" debuts at #1 on Billboard 200.

With 742,400 copies sold, As I Am earns the distinction of being Alicia's best-performing debut. Her 2001 LP Songs in A Minor sold 235,800 copies to enter the top 200 at #1 while 2003's The Diary of Alicia Keys scanned more than 618,300 copies; her 2005 Unplugged set sold close to 196,000 units.

Dr. Jan Adams Walks Out On Larry King

Before Larry King could rip into his a$$, Dr. Jan Adams decided to walk out on Larry. He was supposed to come out for the first segment but did not appeared until after the first commercial break.

"I want to thank you for this opportunity," Dr. Jan Adams told King. "Basically, I had come here to talk about things in the press that aren't
accurate about me.

"But I have a tremendous amount of love and respect for the West family. They asked me not to go on. And I've said from the very beginning, I don't have a side in this," Adams said.

"They are my side, and I'm going to respect their wishes. I'm going to apologize to you because I think I'm taking up your air time, but I will not be on the show and I'm not going to discuss any of that. I'm going to honor their wishes."

Later in the show, Alan Tenenbaum, an attorney for Dr. Adams, explained that Adams received a letter from attorneys representing the West family. The letter asked him not to appear on the show.





King left open the possibility that Adams could appear on the show again Wednesday.

Alicia Keys covers Entertainment Weekly

Alicia Keys is on the cover of the November 23 issue of Entertainment Weekly. In an exclusive interview with EW, she opens up about hitting rock bottom, taking control of her career and getting a life.

On her newfound independence:

"I became brutally honest. I would go straight up to people and say, 'Guess what? This is over. So what's gonna happen from now on is this: If you're feeling that, great. if not, bye.' Some people didn't like it, and they didn't like me being so clear and set on what I wanted. But I found that I took their power away. Any power anyone ever had over me is gone...I'm at the point now like, F--- it. Who gives a s---? I don't really care what you think aboout me."

On the moment she realize she had hit rock bottom:

"I discovered a lot about myself that I didn't like. I would look in the mirror and I didn't know who that person was. I didn't like my eyes; I didn't like what they said. I couldn't sleep. I was uncomfortable all the time, and irritated and frustrated."

Michael Vick surrender to U.S. marshals today, three weeks before his formal sentencing was to take place.

According to ESPN, the former Atlanta Falcons star made arrangements with the U.S. Marshal Service to turn himself in today to begin serving his sentence -- meaning whatever sentence the judge hands down on December 10 could potentially end earlier.

Right now I am listening to WBLS and Jasmine just played a snippet for Wendy's upcoming show, in this brief snippet, Wendy tells her listeners that Dr. West did not tell Kanye about the surgery. Also, Oprah is denying that she recommend Dr. Adams to Dr. West.

In other Kanye news...

Kanye preformed in Paris Saturday night for a sold out crowd of 5,000. He did a 60 minute set and tried to conclude with a dedication of “Hey Mama." Kanye got no further than saying, “this song is for my mother….” and he lost it.

Kanye retreated backstage for 15 minutes or so and came out to finish with “Stronger”. The audience was very supportive and helped create a magical moment when Kayne shouted his lyrics ‘I need you… I need you right now’ and the audience was screaming back.

Kanye’s performances are expected to be cancelled this week as he returns to the United States for his mother’s funeral in Oklahoma City on Tuesday. (Source)

Nia Long, Gabrielle Union: [Immense laughter]

Sanaa: You know, at this point in our careers, we’re all in our mid-thirties. There’s an art to being an actress, especially being a Black actress. And the truth is, to have persevered as long as the three of us have, you have to have some kind of philosophy about being in between work.

Essence: Because that’s so much time, right?

Sanaa: So much time.

Nia: No matter how long you’ve been in it, there is no security. So you have to really do sort of that internal work to just say I’m going to stay true to who I am, and also to have your heart open enough to be happy when other great things are happening for other people who do the same thing you do. Because that can be difficult if you’re not in the right place. I think having that helps to attract your highest good to you.

Gabrielle: That’s a tough lesson we all have to go through. It’s like, no matter how much you hate on somebody, it doesn’t change your life. I mean, you feel kind of okay in the moment as you’re dogging somebody, and then at the end of it you feel [bad] —and you still don’t have a job.

Nia: And you won’t get one because you’re putting all that negativity out there!

Sanaa: I truly believe that. And you know the thing is also, because we are artists, we feel. We have to nurture that sensitive side of ourselves, so of course we’re going to get jealous and envious. We’re human. But the key is to have the emotion, recognize it, deal with it, and move on. That’s what being an adult is. I think in life you have to work on yourself, but it’s almost like being an actress in Hollywood is double the stress.

ON GOSSIP

Essence: How do you deal with the 24-hours-a-day gossip that comes out on the Internet?

Gabrielle: Just last week somebody gave me a baby. This isn’t Perez Hilton or the White gossip people, these are women of color, specifically Black women who, for whatever reason, don’t like the company I keep.

Sanaa: She’s talking about the gossip sites.
Essence: The blogs.
Sanaa: That are run by Black women.
Gabrielle: And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts.

Nia: We are some of the few Black actresses whose passions are rooted in our community.

Gabrielle: There is this idea that there is integrity in journalism; if it’s written it has to be true. But that’s not the case. When blogs or any of the magazines get it wrong, there’s no accountability. In the next breath, they’ll complain on the blogs that we don’t have enough Black stars. Well, you rip us to shreds every two seconds from our nose to the weave to the clothes to the shoes to the ashy ankles.

Losing Zahara

Angelina may be up for a custody battle. A woman claiming to be Zahara's birth mother recently spoke to In Touch about Zahara.

24-year-old Mentewab Dawit Lebiso told the magazine, "I want my daughter to come home to see where she is from. Her grandmother and I both tried very hard to raise her, and I want her to come home to regain her identity."

Dlisted is reporting that Ms. Lebiso told In Touch that Zahara was conceived when she was raped by a stranger. After givign birth to Zahara, she left her because there was no food and she thougth Zahara was going to die.

"I thought the baby was going to die because there was no food, so I ran away."

Sorry, honey, I have no sympathy for you. My maternal instincts would not allow me to leave my child. I would starve before I let my child go without.

Save the Date: Nicole Richie's baby shower

If you are not busy this weekend and can catch a flight to LA, In Touch reports that invites have been sent out for Nicole Richie's baby shower.

Here are some of the details:
-The event will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, and is being planned by Mindy Weiss, wedding planner to the stars.

-The shower is being given by Nicole’s mother, Brenda. The invite also says the shower is being thrown by her sister Sophia and her “loving friends” Paris Hilton and Masha Gordon.

-The shower would be at a Beverly Hills estate, with music by DJ Samantha Ronson and some of Nicole’s favorite foods — including sushi, coconut shrimp, lobster, lemon-pepper chicken, fruit and cake — will be served.

Pompeo, Ivery Wed in NY

NEW YORK -- "Grey's Anatomy" star Ellen Pompeo promised she wouldn't have a big wedding. She kept her promise.

Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on ABC's hit show, tied the knot with record producer Chris Ivery last Friday in a ceremonial office at City Hall, with Mayor Michael Bloomberg as a witness.

Pompeo, 38, and Ivery became engaged last November, after dating for three years. In an interview last August, she said the couple didn't plan a big ceremony because "we want one thing to ourselves."

Bloomberg and Deputy Mayor Patti Harris were the two witnesses, and an official from the city clerk's office performed the ceremony, Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser said.

Meet Dr. Jan Adams

You may have seen him before, you may not have. His name is Dr. Jan Adams and he the plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye's mom.

TMZ.com was able to recover a lot (and I do mean a lot) of dirt about Dr. Jan Adams. Let us examine the evidence...

Exhibit A:
The Medical Board of California filed legal papers last April asking to revoke or suspend Dr. Jan Adams' medical license because he was convicted of multiple DUIs, one in 2006, another in 2003. TMZ has also uncovered one from 1994.

Exhibit B:
Two malpractice judgments against Dr. Adams from 2001. One for $217,337 and the other for $250,000.

Exhibit C:
Dr. Adams is not Board Certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

This is very frightening. Please ladies (and gents) if you are considering any form of surgery, please consult a board certified surgeon and research, research, research.

Karrine is the type of broad that, she don't want nobody telling her nothing. You almost have to kinda walk on eggshells when you're dealing with her, and I ain't no punk up in here!'

DARIUS ON KARRINE'S SELFISH WAYS: 'This is my problem with Karrine. Whenever I do something, I think about how it would affect her. She's not cognizant at all--when she says these things and does these things, like how is this gonna affect Darius? Her main thing is, 'I gotta sell books. I'mma deal with you right now because wow, you're more popular than I thought you were.' That's how she thinks. So its like one minute it's all about me and then the next minute it's Lil Wayne. And I will say this: She is really clever concerning the way she works the media.'
